La Coupole - in 1943, Hitler decided to destroy London. After the Eperlecques launching base had been neutralised, he ordered the construction of La Coupole of Helfaut: a concrete dome 5 metres thick, which protected the biggest underground V2 rocket launch pad ever built. This gigantic bunker, dug into chalk by Russian and Polish prisoners of war, is still intact. Today, it houses an astonishing history and remembrance centre on war and rockets offering a choice of two separate tours: "Hitler's Secret Weapons and The Conquest of Space" or "Northern France in German hands". It stands as a monument of remembrance and reflection for free citizens of today and the future.
The museum has employed the latest technology to depict probably the most traumatic period of the 20th century. Infrared audio-guided headsets in English enable you to visit the centre at your own pace. Each tour lasts about 2 hours with an impressive array of films, slide shows, reconstructions and animated models.Free worksheets on request or download from our website www.lacoupole-france.com.

Agincourt – France was in turmoil in the 15th century. King Charles VI suffered from bouts of madness and civil war was raging between
the opposing factions of Burgundy and Orléans. It was then that the recently crowned King of England, Henry V, decided to take advantage
of the situation in France. Through diplomatic means, Henry V continued in his attempts to obtain the title of King of France or, at the very least, additional French territory. At the beginning of 1415, the Armagnacs were in power and they refused to agree to Henry’s excessive demands. Negotiations had broken down completely and there was no alternative but for England and France to take up arms against each other. This situation came to a head on 25th October 1415 on fields near the village of Agincourt, where a vastly outnumbered English army, led by Henry V, crushed a French army under the command of Constable d’Albret. On this historic battlefield site, Agincourt does not intend to glorify what was one of the bloodiest battles of the Hundred Years’ War, but to reveal instead an event of symbolic importance in medieval history. At the Centre Historique Médiéval, technology and history combine so that you can relive this historical event of the Middle Ages. This is achieved by a combination of information panels, talking figures, interactive exhibits, films, documentaries and special exhibitions.
